Cookson Law, PLLC provides real estate settlement services to buyers and sellers in the Raleigh-Durham area.  Real estate services we handle include: contract review, title searches, HUD preparation, and closings.  Our office has completed over 6,000 successful closings.  

Foreclosure Assistance

Our firm works with homeowners who are in need of help in avoiding foreclosure.  As part of this, we have a full team of Short Sale Coordinators that can help negotiate with your lender and try to come up with solutions to keep you from foreclosure.  We offer a free confidential consultation where you can talk to the attorney about issues you may be having.  We also team with local Real Estate Agents to help their clients who are facing these problems.  Our goal is to help as many clients as possible out of these situations and into a better future.

We currently assist many small businesses with different facets of their operations.  Starting with Incorporating, our firm offers consultation on what type of entity to start and how to avoid legal issues as your business grows.  Some of the services we offer are; full corporate set up, contract review, lease review, employment issues, commercial real estate, non compete and other issues all businesses face.  It is never too early to involve an attorney in your business planning.

About Us

Cookson Law, PLLC, was originally established in 2003 under the name Gurley & Cookson, PLLC by attorneys Andrew Cookson and Tony Gurley.  After providing quality real estate settlement services in the Raleigh-Durham area for almost ten years, the firm changed its name to Cookson Law, PLLC in February 2013 with Andrew Cookson as sole partner.  

Meet Andrew

Andrew Cookson

Old Dominion University 1990 B.A. in Political Science

North Carolina Central University 2003 J.D.

After graduating from Old Dominion, Andrew worked for a number of years as a real estate broker in Wilmington N.C.  As a Manager at a Century 21 franchise and then at a Re/Max franchise he learned the ins and outs of real estate from listing and sales to contracts and closings.  He then moved to the Triangle area to pursue his law degree.  His prior experience as a realtor gives him a unique insight into real estate and allows Andrew to have a great approach in making sure that the closing occurs on schedule.  Andrew is married and has 4 children (all girls).
